After arrival in West Bengal. Our representative from Explore Himalaya will pick you up either from New Jalpaiguri or Bagdogra. After a drive of about three hours along roads lined with lush green tea gardens you will reach Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan. This rapidly growing town is Bhutan’s commercial centre. Spend some time in the local market and explore the local tradition. End your day with a scrumptious dinner. Overnight at your hotel in Phuentsholing.
Wake up and enjoy the freshly prepared breakfast. Today we are going to drive to Paro. We will witness Paro Taktsang, the popular cliffside monastery. It is an out of world experience. On your way you would come across many red robed buddhist monks. The path to the monastery is phenomenal. Spend some time in the compound of the temple. You can explore the national museum of Bhutan if you are looking to dig into the historical aspects of the country. Fall in love with the tiger’s nest and chele la mountain peak that will really inundate you with positivity. End the day with the delicious dinner. Overnight stay in Paro.
After the morning breakfast we are going to transfer to Thimphu. After lunch visit the Memorial Chorten (temple) built in memory of the late 3rd King. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley offering a nice view of the valley. Enclosure where national animal, Takins are kept and drive to visit the largest and newly built statue of Buddha offering magnificent view of entire Thimphu valley. After 5PM, visit the fortress of Thimphu, Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne of the king. We will check into the hotel, take some rest until the dinner is ready. Overnight stay in Thimpu.
Today's journey is from the modern capital of Bhutan to the ancient capital of Bhutan. The drive from Dochu-La pass offers incredible views of Himalayan peaks before entering into benign fields of Punakha valley. We will cover the most iconic temple in Punakaha. The temple of the Punakha Dzong has old traditional architecture with four intricately embossed entrance pillars elegantly crafted from cypress and fabeled in gold and silver. Ending our day by imbibing in the beauty of Bhutan, we will head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Punakha.
Enjoy the early morning breakfast. We are going to drive to Phobjika today. The scenic drive will take you to the mesmerising side of Bhutan. It is the valley of endangered Black Necked Crane. Black Necked Crane is one of the rare specials of the birds in the world, which migrates from Tibetan plateau to Bhutan in winters (Early Nov to end of Feb). Phobjikha valley is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers so once can enjoy the hike around the remote valley of Phobjikha. Check into the hotel and enjoy your appetising dinner meal. Overnight stay in Phobjika.
Finish your breakfast early in the morning so we can leave early to cover all the top notch destinations in Bumthang. Some of the highlights of the trip will be covered on this day. Kurje Lhakhang, Jambey Lhakang, Tamshing Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong are some of the old temples and monastries that gives us a peek into the holy culture of Bhutan. You can visit a local handicraft shop, hit off to a short hike to Lhodrak Kharchhu Monastery. Come back to hotel for the dinner and overnight stay in Bumthang.
After the breakfast, we are going to drive to Gelephu. The drive is totally fantastic. You are going to experience the thrill of cruising through the roads of Bhutan. Gelephu is connected by road from Shemgang and Trongsa and another road from Wangdue, which goes through Chirang. Gelephu is the only place in Bhutan where there is extensive plain land, and it is where Government of Bhutan has planned for another international airport. Its close proximity and well established connectivity with India. We are going to put the foot down in Gelephu and check into the hotel. Freshen up and enjoy the delicious meals at dinner.
After the breakfast, hit off to Gelephu Hotsprings (Tshachu) to spend some time in the nature. his Hot Spring is mainly frequented by the local residents but in winter people from all over Bhutan journey here cure themselves of diseases. We will hit the road and drive back to India, entering into the town of Guwahati. Spend some time exploring the markets in Guwahati. Go out for an evening walk to relax.
This is going to be the last day of our trip. The team of explore himalaya will bid you farewell at the airport.
